Association celebrating former nationally recognized, award winning public high school
The St. Louis Career Academy was formed in 1994 by Judge George Gunn in the St. Louis desegregation case and created under the leadership of Planning Coordinator Attorney Paul R. Hales and Chief Education Officer Larry Hutchins. It was recognized in 1997 by the U. S. Department of Education as one of five schools in the nation on the cutting edge of education reform (http://www.ed.gov/PressReleases/03-1997/urb-hs.html). The Career Academy later was succeeded in modified form by a St. Louis Public School called the Clyde C. Miller Career Academy, 1000 N. Grand Blvd.St. Louis, MO 63106.
